81 years ago today, the heroes of D-Day showed extraordinary bravery and sacrifice. We owe our freedom to their courage that day. We will never forget them.

Without fixing social care, putting money into the NHS today will be like pouring water into a leaky bucket. Today's Spending Review must finally start delivering the change that people were promised.

Ministers should also be slashing the reams of red tape that are holding local businesses back and negotiate a bespoke UK-EU customs union, rather than pursuing painful cuts to already stretched budgets. Until they do, the Chancellor will still be trying to drive the economy

This smoke and mirrors spending review was a missed opportunity to repair the damage done by the Conservatives and finally deliver on the promise of change.

Trump demanding higher US drug prices in his UK trade talks will hit the NHS and community pharmacists. Will the government ensure the NHS won’t be used as a bargaining chip with a highly unreliable US president? Helen Morgan MP 🔶

Countless people rely on this support to stay in work and just go about their daily lives. To strip that away from them is not only senseless but cruel. Ministers must change course.

Even the PM's own backbenchers can see the damage these cuts will do - leaving some of the most vulnerable without support and putting unpaid carers in impossible situations. The Government needs to pull this Bill and go back to the drawing board.

Proud to be working with Shaffaq Mohammed 🔶 on Sara’s Law in memory of my murdered #Woking constituent Sara Sharif. Sara’s Law, as requested by the Children's Commissioner for England would set high national standards to protect vulnerable children - and end the postcode lottery in children’s social care.

Under the Government’s plans, those caring for someone who doesn’t qualify for PIP in future will lose their Carer’s Allowance. Liberal Democrats are clear that we cannot vote for anything that strips disabled people and those who care for them of vital support.

"Prime Minister and many ministers have identified that the benefits system is broken and the cost of it is skyrocketing, but balancing the books on the backs of the poor is wrongheaded in the extreme." "The proposals today are a leap into the dark." Steve Darling MP

The Lords debated the Chagos Treaty last night. The Tories lost a vote opposing it, but our FCDO spokesperson Jeremy Purvis managed, through dialogue and negotiation, to obtain govt commitments on resettlement and the rights of Chagossians. A better way to play opposition.

Today the Bill to remove hereditary peers from the Lords returns. Lib Dem peers will be voting on our amendment which would force the Government to bring forward proposals for a democratic mandate for the House of Lords. We support the Bill, but it does not go far enough.
