🎨 Meet our first eight foot hero lighthouse: Simply Southampton Jess Perrin created our large Hero Lighthouse, with the design being inspired by all things Southampton featuring some of Southampton’s most prominent landmarks. #lightthesouth #southampton #isleofwight #arttrail

Meet our first 1m mini lighthouse: Dazzle Light created by Kezia Hoffman. The design points to the historic link to Dazzle ships that were held in Southampton docks in World War One. The striking black and white patterns were thought to confuse the enemy. #lightthesouth

Lighthouses are painted differently to help identification of them by the mariner during the day. The red and white stripes help them identify the lighthouse if it is up against a white background, such as cliffs or rocks. Artist submissions open: lightthesouth.co.uk/artists
