Using product-level data, I estimated the share of US imports from Mexico and Vietnam that are likely to be transshipped from China. Full report here: 02072025-brief-identify-tariff-evasion-web.pdf

I endorse everything Meredith Lilly talked about here in her intervention. The US cannot be replaced as Canada's top trade partner *and* we always need to be looking to diversify trade to improve our leverage with the US.

It was a special honour to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal today for service to Canada. Thank you to Canadian Global Affairs Institute for facilitating this honour. I was also so pleased to be recognized alongside my NPSIA at Carleton University colleague, Philippe Lagassé.

An excellent and timely primer by Professor Lilly on next steps in advancing the #CanadaUS relationship and the #USMCA review. The path may be tricky but progress is essential and failure is not an option. #trade #economicpolicy

Smart move. Canada is lucky to have Amb. Hillman and fortunate she’s agreed to take on the additional responsibility of Chief negotiator.

Congratulations to my friend Amb Hillman, a consistently and remarkably effective ambassador with tremendous institutional knowledge. Great move by PM Mark Carney — good for Canada and good for the U.S.
