You are a Minister of the Indian Republic, not a monarch. Kiren Rijiju You hold a constitutional post, not a throne. Minority rights are fundamental rights, not charity. Is it a “benefit” to be called Pakistani, Bangladeshi, jihadi, or Rohingya every single day? Is it

The government doesn't trust you. It keeps asking you to prove again and again whether you are a citizen, a voter, a beneficiary, a bank account holder and a real person. So why should you trust the government?

Rana Ayyub has more courage and investigative ability than the whole lot trying to hound her on the basis of a two-month old income tax report framed under this govt and we know what that means. These waffling centrists who do modi’s job for him.

Peace to the great C.M. Naim (1936 – 2025). When I started studying Urdu I started reading everything he ever wrote, and haven't stopped. Now, as ever, I recommend you read his moving account of his trip to Palestine in 1989 franpritchett.com/00litlinks/nai…

We were honoured to publish C. M. Naim, to have him in our lives for many years as author & friend. Erudite but never pompous, he was a soft-spoken, elegant, warm, generous presence- story-teller & passionate gardener who would bring bulbs & seeds as gifts. A terrible loss.

Gone are two remarkable Urdu stalwarts, C M Naim and S R Faruqi, both born in '35-'36. Their insatiable quest for learning, perceptive minds, and endless generosity towards scholars and juniors were a true testament to the richness of intellectual life. Both are missed dearly.

Ordinary Muslim citizens of India need to be protected as much from the communalism of their co-religionists as from what is labelled majoritarian communalism. C M Naim wrote in a 2015 letter to EPW: epw.in/journal/2015/3…

The English speaking Sanghi that was Modi's dream, which Swapan Dasgupta didn't measure up to, is now fulfilled with Shashi Tharoor

Bhakt Prahlad (Pralhad Joshi), with a spelling mistake for a name, nobody expects you to be right or truthful. But tell us if you are a 3 trillion economy why do you have to give foodgrains for free to 80 crore people? Have you pushed people into poverty through your great work?
