29 Sept(Sun), #Chikyu continued LWD, but the pipe has gotten stuck. The drilling team are working to free the pipe from the hole. Scientists are monitoring the situation, analyzing data obtained so far and getting briefed on lab tools used for core analyses. #IODP #JTRACK

10/8 (Tue) #Coring continues smoothly! 1 co-chief, 1 outreach officer & 2 logging staff scientists changed place with a new co-chief. A live webcast with 6th graders in Kochi, Japan was a great success, with lots of questions from the students! #IODP #JTRACK #Chikyu #JAMSTEC

12/8 (Sun) #Chikyu reached the target depth (925m below seafloor) & started preparations to install thermometers. We all gathered to celebrate the birthday of a scientist, "Happy birthday!" It was blazing hot when we sailed in Sept, but today, snowy hail fell on board! #IODP
