In light of the Liberal victory in Canada, re-upping my Renewal piece from last month - for centre and left of centre parties worldwide there’s greater electoral ground to be gained from a principled, progressive response to the far right than from nervous accommodation.

It was a pleasure to speak at a History and Policy and Department for Science, Innovation and Technology seminar this afternoon on ‘How has the way that humans create, receive and share knowledge evolved over time?’(!!). Annoyingly, given the content of my presentation, AI summarised my remarks quite well.

I'm biased because Lise Butler is an editor now, but the Renewal relaunch looks amazing. Great new website, awesome line-up. And there's going to be a party!

This overview by Alfie Steer is the best write up of the potential for a new left-wing party I've read. It benefit from Alfies's research into the recent history of both the Labour left and the left outside Labour rather than focusing on personalities. renewal.org.uk/blog/the-reven…
