The foundation stone of Christ Church, #Bootle was laid on this day 1865. Funded by James Phillips Mather of Bootle Hall, at the cost of approx. £8,000, as a memorial to his daughter.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s inaugural crossing took Mona’s Isle from Douglas to Liverpool on 17th August 1830. Under the command of Captain William Gill, carrying a total of 15 saloon and 17 steerage passengers. She was sold in 1851
