Pregnant bodies don't follow legal timelines. Whether lawmakers draw a line at 6 weeks or 24 weeks ― they’re denying necessary care. We must protect access to abortions later in pregnancy. Here’s why [ a thread 🧵] #AbortionWithoutLimits

Somewhere around 1% of abortions occur at 21 weeks or later, and the subset of abortions in the third trimester (around 26 weeks) is even smaller. "When you’re thinking about that as real people, that’s a pretty big number," said Dr. Katrina Kimport. huffpost.com/entry/people-w…

So much admiration for @chasestrangio, ACLU & the brave clients they’ve flown around the country defending! More can join the fight but the medical/public health community are critical to combat the misinformation campaign trying to create an illusion of medical uncertainty

Our research shows medication abortion patients who receive pills by mail without first getting an ultrasound do just as well as those who are examined and given the drugs in person. Any attempt to restrict this type of care is not based on science.

My argument for why Harris can win is that she’s in the best position to run the “Abortion, abortion, abortion, also dude is a criminal, abortion, abortion” campaign that has pretty much worked in every state that it’s been run since Dobbs.
