What are the consultants doing about this? It is time to inform Wes Streeting that senior staff refuse to supervise PA s and AA s. The safety of patients would lie squarely on the government and the Trusts.

Every time you can’t get a GP appointment, or you are waiting 2 years for an elective surgery or 24 hours in A&E remember this is a political choice. We have unemployed doctors whilst the NHS is in crisis and clearly the government just doesn’t care.

Seems consultants are the only way the public will be protected, by refusing to supervise. They have the power to put a stop to this. Will they stand up & be counted? The gov taking no responsibility for patient's safety, they'll throw Dr's under the bus.

This medical student used to be a doctor’s assistant (physician associate). He’ll qualify next year. And take a 1/3 paycut. Even if doctors’ pay is fully restored before he’s qualified, he will still earn less as a doctor than he did as an assistant.

Deeply concerning to see 'poor impulse control' being put forward as a possible mitigating factor. It's can be an extremely dangerous trait when combined with a violent and criminal character, and it should prompt lengthier not lighter sentences to protect the public.

At the moment, I’m a little perturbed by three things: (1) the leak refers only to PAs, AAs aren’t mentioned (2) I’d like to know if it will apply to existing employees or only to new ones (2) there’s no timescale given - and that’s important, not least for recruitment to courses
