If you're able to travel to Melbourne, don't miss out on a spot at our insect identification workshop being held in March! It will give you all the information (and confidence!) required to ID common grain pests. Also a great refresher for establishment pests.

‼️ Cutworm = 3 different species that are impossible to tell apart as larvae. The common cutworm is actually the #Bogongmoth! This is an #endangeredspecies critical for Australian alpine food webs🕸️ For non-chemical management options, read Pestnotes: cesaraustralia.com/pestnotes/cate…

A few weeks ago I had a cotton aphid infestation on my hibiscus 😬 (left photo) I left them alone 🤷🏼‍♀️ Today (right photo) nature's pest control: parasitoid wasps have done their work and it's COVERED in mummies (the husks left after the wasp larvae hatch out 🤯) #biocontrol

More wasp (I think?) activity. Some gall forming insect is SMASHING this banksia 😱 (why yes, of course I've collected some to see what hatches out)

Severe under-resourcing is a common theme in invertebrate research, monitoring, and management. We continue to ignore them at our peril. At IA we’re giving a voice to Australia’s invertebrate science to change the narrative, boost resourcing, and improve outcomes. #wildoz

I am so upset by this decision, this urban wetland is such a special place. Here are my kids enjoying the space and searching for critters. And the new plan with replacement "trees and turf" look so boring 😭
