The Palisades fire put thousands out work, including service workers—from housekeepers and nannies to pool cleaners and gardeners. Many are undocumented workers, leaving them ineligible for government assistance. Yet, they’ve long been part of the very fabric of this community.

Thanks to all the brave firefighters working around the clock to protect our communities. Let’s commit to creating pathways for these incarcerated workers to build careers as firefighters. As urban and rural fires are on the rise across our state, CA needs them more than ever.

In CA, price gouging protections kick in for a state of emergency to bar landlords/hotels from charging over 10% of what was charged before the crisis. These protections were set to expire next month, but Newsom issued an executive order to extend them in LA County until March 8.
