And we’re off with the session 1 of selected abstracts at #LINEsymposium2025: first up AT López-Jiménez London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine showcasing a novel proximity labelling approach to discover mechanisms of cell-autonomous immunity against bacteria.

Next up in session 1: Tom Williams Imperial Department of Infectious Disease presenting his work on fungal infection in the airways to understand key immunological pathways that drive airway disease. #LINEsymposium2025

Closing session 1 is Raul Y Sanchez David Queen Mary University of London. A fascinating talk on self-amplifying mRNA, its interaction with our innate immunity and how we can exploit and modulate its function! #LINEsymposium2025

Energized into session 2: How do antibiotics kill bacteria? Edward Douglas Imperial Department of Infectious Disease is casting light onto the mode of action of polymyxin. #LINEsymposium2025

Next in session 2 is Chloe Rees-Spear UCL Division of Infection & Immunity presenting her work using a novel tonsil organoid system to study human antigen-specific germinal centre B cell responses to viral infections. #LINEsymposium2025

Our third speaker in session 2 is Wenye Ma University of Bristol who is studying interkingdom interactions between fungi and bacteria with the aim to combat Group B Streptococcus neonatal disease. #LINEsymposium2025

And we are heading straight into the poster flash ⚡️ talks for today: Baptiste Pradel (The Francis Crick Institute) Dylan Postmus (LSTM) Felix Scharte (MRC-LMB Cell Biology) Jack Mellors (Imperial Department of Infectious Disease) ! #LINEsymposium2025

It’s time for our career panel, joined by Dr. Tina Chowdhury (Reader Queen Mary University of London), Peter Hill (Group leader King's College London), Cat Gale (Producer/Director), Henry Blest (Co-founder Polari Labs), Catrin Beetham (Policy adviser) and Aimé Palomeras (Clinical Project Manager Imperial Department of Infectious Disease).

We’re excited to have Dr Laura Wolz and Prof. Laura Carter from Carers in STEMM with us today to tell us about their important work advocating for equitable and accessible support for those balancing caring and career. #LINEsymposium2025

We are heading straight into session 3 of our selected talks. Will Branchett The Francis Crick Institute is up first, focussing on M. tuberculosis infection. #LINEsymposium2025

Our next speaker in this session is Audrey Peters Imperial Department of Infectious Disease showcasing her work on phage-bacteria interactions in complex environments, spanning in vitro and in vivo models. #LINEsymposium2025

Our last (but not least) selected speaker for today is Oliver Wright UCL Division of Infection & Immunity with a great talk on how ADP-ribosylation poses an important barrier to infection that viruses like SARS-CoV-2 have to overcome. #LINEsymposium2025

This has been a fantastic day! We’re excited that we are ending on an inspiring keynote by Amaya Bustinduy London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine showcasing her science focussing on schistosomiasis and reflecting on her journey as a clinical scientist. #LINEsymposium2025
