Reading aloud is *so* important! As well as being read to by my parents as a kid, which I loved, I had amazing teachers at Poynton High School who read aloud in English classes and showed us how important it is as a way of learning about texts πŸ‘Œ 1/2

Thomas Martell Just been to a wonderful workshop @londonLATE exploring the variety of ways primary classrooms β€˜do’ reading. Phonics being a small part- guided reading, listening to stories, telling and retelling, drawing and playing. Phonics is there and useful but part of a wider culture

Eng chat I wasn’t at Lit Drive but the week before I was at LATE London Teachers πŸ“šβœοΈ and I took away a lot! I think one of my main ones was the emotional connection that reading texts aloud can create which also aids memory. I also thought oral story telling and it’s links to writing was important
