Dear The Labour Party, I’m a consultant clinical psychologist. What should I tell people terrified they’ll be left destitute by your proposed PIP and LCWRA changes—because you’re removing the very means they use to live with dignity and making many suicidal? Thank you, Dr Watts

Spelling this out - the current Government position is that neither MPs, nor the media nor the public, will see the final text of the Bill BEFORE they are asked to decide whether it’s good enough.

When the Voluntary Euthanasia society rebranded to become Dignity in Dying they said it was to campaign for all end of life care. No evidence of doing that twenty years later. They say there’s nothing to stop palliative care improving. The Bill is a massive incentive not to.

.Paul Brand have you ever asked Dignity in Dying who funds them? Who are those big high net worth donors that ensure a £1.6m campaign spend every year for over two decades. I do hope you take an even approach in investigating everyone's financial connections.

Assisted suicide is currently a criminal act - it receives legal scrutiny but there's also discretion when appropriate If the current Bill becomes law assisted suicide becomes a medical treatment & all Drs have to do is act in good faith & they'll be indemnified from prosecution

Shameful stuff from Paul Brand, with an accusation he didn't even have the courage to make in the open. I've know Nikki da Costa for years and I know that - quite apart from the concerns about this dreadful Bill - she has a personal mission to try to make parliament's arcane

Gordon Brown is right. This bill imposes an obligation on every terminally ill patient to consider the option of Assisted Suicide - a 'right' with a system to deliver it. The alternative, palliative care, is underfunded, bureaucratic, and in places non-existent. So much for

Private Eye has found that that 281,000 PIP claimants *already in paid work* stand to lose out under the proposed cuts (i.e the four-point rule) That's 55% of all PIP claimants in paid work, according to the article (not my article but I want to flag it)

The CQC has found high levels of staff vacancies in the already understaffed psychiatric intensive care units and acute mental health wards in South Cumbria, concluding that this is putting patient safety at risk. Today, I challenged the health minister to intervene.

While it's good to hear that the DfT will 'consider' a rolling programme of A4A accessibility improvements, they are being rather disingenuous when they state that all station upgrades must be accessible - Appendix B of the (PRM) NTSN - details in the next tweet.... 1/4...

We need a welfare system that supports, not punishes, people when they need it most. Disability benefit cuts will deepen hardship and inequality across Wales and the UK. I’m voting NO.
