Lovely creative start to half term. Experimenting with a tiny new gelli plate, cutting out some stencils, and testing some new acrylic colours from Sostrene Green.

Today’s gelli print experiments. Cut out 3 stencils and chose a random selection of colours, which have turned out looking like our dining room wallpaper in the 1970s 😂

Day 3 of gelli print experiments, this time with some plant form stencils. Couldn’t resist using some Naples Yellow and Venetian Pink too.

Day 4 of half term gelli print experiments. I’ve taken inspiration today from the seeds that I’ve been planting.

Day 5 of half term gelli print experiments. Tried some fluorescent pink in these, and love how it has altered the other colours when layered.

Day 6 of half term gelli print experiments. Took inspiration from the sea/water today, and I made SO many prints in the space of just 1 hour!

Day 7 of experimental half term gelli printing, and as it’s the 1st March and the start of meteorological spring, I’ve taken inspiration from lovely spring flowers.

Hope everyone has had a lovely half term break. I’ve really enjoyed spending an hour each day experimenting with my gelli plate, and have managed to create a set of prints for 7 days in a row. Loved it!

Thanks to all art educators who attended last nights meeting for NEATEN. Great to see presentations and skills shared. We do still have a future. 18 yrs old in October. Grassroots. Teachers teaching teachers. Unfunded. Independent! It’s what matters.

Brilliant bubble photoshoot by our Year 10 photographers this week!

Such a brilliant play, exploring behind the scenes relationships between the 3 main characters, during gaps in filming when the shark was broken. Fantastic set & lighting, and Ian Shaw who plays his father Robert, is both hilarious and moving. A must see for Jaws fans! 🦈

Really enjoyed making these gelli prints today, inspired by my recent visit to the beautiful Isle of Skye. I experimented with applying pan pastels directly onto the gelli plate surface which worked really well, and much quicker than acrylic paint, as there’s no drying time.
