This is a photograph of the Lozells Post Office circa 1910, on the north shore of Burnaby Lake. This two story house stood at the north eastern corner of the railway tracks and Piper Road.

In 1908, Colonel James and Hepezebah Ward came to Burnaby and opened a post office. Hepezebah named it Lozells because when she lived in Birmingham, England, she attended a church in a neighbourhood called Lozells.

Place names are important. Giving an area a name is a significant act, and has an enduring effect on the land. We don’t know what Lozells was called before 1908. Do you? #BCAAW2022

It is understood that up to 7 men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. This was as a result of gun shots being fired in Hockley Close, Lozells yesterday afternoon. According to West Midlands Police this is an apparent targeted attack. More to follow soon.

Everyone associated with Holte has been saddened recently to hear of the death of our former Headteacher Pat Walters who led the school from 2001-2015. She had a huge impact on the lives of many young people and helped build the successful careers of many staff at the school.
