Yesterday I posted about how DOGE firing a bunch of public AG scientists was bad, and a lot of people seem to think there is no value in Public AG research. "If public research was valuable then they wouldn't need funding because it would be making money". Here is a thread.

Thomas County Dryland Performance Test hanging on, was in an area that caught a rain a while back. Surprisingly no virus symptoms observed. 40 entries, 5 replications. Varietial differences in leaf rolling and maturity becoming obvious. #wheattour25

We're again running dryland #sorghum nitrogen trials in Thomas, Gray, and Reno Counties. Want to acknowledge @nutrienNHP for donating urea and SurePoint Ag Systems for partnering w/us to adapt their control systems for plot work and treating us right.

Humid day on the Scott Finney line (somebody should get rain tonight). Planting limited irrigation hybrid trial. 1,280 packets. Hopefully can avoid the hail this year. 32 hybrids at 12, 16, 20, 24, and 28k #lowpopmoffia

Laying in bed listening to the days and days and days of work put into nitrogen management plots being washed into no meaningful data. We applied most of the treatments yesterday. When it rains that night, placement and source probably doesn't matter. Glad for the rain, but damn.

For all the agronomic pluses to getting N below the surface, I really hate cutting up stubble... Doing 15", 30", and 60" spacing on the N

We almost look like an organized crew today. Peter Tomlinson and I moving the circus from Montezuma to Hutch. The last of this year's #sorghum nitrogen management trials.

Things that make you go hmmm. Durum wheat seed increase beyond the small plots. Wheat has turned more in the south 1/3, which was after pintos, than that planted after proso. Planted straight through, same day.

Definitely not a genuine Hege combine part as the German steel now has some Reinke or Valley driveshaft in it, but as long as it keeps the AC belt tight that's all I care. #plotcombines #harvest25
