Spring University of Plymouth heralds the start of an intensive campaign to understand habitat needs of early juvenile fish. Exciting to have newly upgraded JHaM-Cam cameras in water for Defra UK FISP #FinVision. Much hard work behind the scenes by EmbryoPhenomics to develop the tech 🙌

What better for #EarthDay2024 than starting our first year University of Plymouth marine biology field course exploring two beautiful sheltered SW sites. MBERC @plymbiolmarsci #plymbio

Lift off! Asking questions about the biology of some unusual marine beach dwellers with @realdocspicer and Clare Embling... on 1st yr #MarineBiology field course University of Plymouth #plyMBIO @plymbiolmarsci MBERC

Check out this beautiful sand hopper (Talitrus saltator), dug out of its hibernation & desperate to bury back under the cool damp sand. Lots of fun on day 2 of the University of Plymouth #plymbio field course investigating their #biology & #Ecology.

@plymbiolmarsci field trip to Bude in Cornwall where there are loads of honeycomb worm (Sabellaria) and mussel (galloprovinicalis?) reefs harbouring fish, lurking in wait for the next incoming tide, and whacky Celtic sea slugs breathing the fresh spring air until submersion.

8 months ago, these rooms were empty and I didn’t know anything about fish husbandry. Today I am running experiments in the amazing Brixham Laboratory to calibrate indices of growth for juvenile sole, for my PhD. What an amazing journey, and it is just the beginning.. stay tuned !🐟
