Day 1 of the #ANZICmasterclass jumped straight into core flow & core description! Students got to experience the MAGIC of being the first people on Earth to see a slice of Earth’s history as they slit a core✨️ 🧵2

The #ANZICmasterclass helped process the cores from the 2022 Halo Project (Project HALO 2022), that aims to investigate large bioherms of #Halimeda (green calcareous macroalgae) in the northern Great Barrier Reef! These ancient donut-shaped deep-water bioherms are a mystery!

Day 2 at #ANZICmasterclass 🚀 Students immersed themselves in a "byte"-sized day at QUT Space, diving deep into cutting-edge tech for data analyses, mind-blowing visualizations & interactive experiences that sparked creativity! ✨ #TechInnovation #AI #MachineLearning #NASA 🧵1/3

Students navigated the cosmic depths of exploration, uncovering parallels & collaborations between remote wonders like the deep-sea & outer space🚀🌊 Embracing the unknown with #IODP & #NASA, they embark on a virtual odyssey on the ARCHIVED - Curiosity Rover, bridging the gaps between worlds

Students finished the day working with data & software that adapts AI & machine learning to aid the rapid identification of some Antarctic microfossil slides. In less the 3 hours, groups identified over 600 specimens with great accuracy!

Ended the 2nd day of the #ANZICmasterclass with a social evening in South Bank, Brisbane to see Australian dinosaurs and megafauna, and enjoy a dip in the "beach" along the river

What a week! I have learnt so much already at this years ANZIC #ANZICmasterclass held at @UqEnvironment and QUT. A busy couple of days to go before the team head to the field. Dr Helen Bostock and Luke Nothdurft leading this amazing student focused week.
