Chris Lupton and myself as equal co-first authors, study co-led by @Dr_Ellisdon and Dr Michelle L Halls. Monash University Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute Monash Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Monash Research Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences University of Sydney

Spectacular cryoEM structure of LYCHOS by Charles Bayly-Jones & team out in @nature strongly supports its role as cholesterol sensor for mTORC1 that we (Hijai Regina Shin) discovered, and points to an intriguing mechanism of transport-coupled cholesterol binding. Congratulations!

Out now in nature, Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute have solved the structure of human cell regulator ‘LYCHOS’, opening up an exciting new drug target for cancer and neurological diseases 👏👇 monash.edu/news/articles/…

1/Paving the way for possible new treatments of diseases triggered by abnormal cell growth, research published in nature, co-led by BDI's @Dr_Ellisdon & Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences @dr_MLHalls, co-first @BJ_Charles @luptoncj, has solved the structure of ‘LYCHOS’. 👇Read on to find out about a fascinating #GPCR acting as a domain of a larger transmembrane protein at the lysosome, important for regulation of #mTOR A wonderful collaboration with @Dr_Ellisdon between MIPS DDB Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, and a huge effort from our teams

🚨 Our story on the TSC:WIPI3 lysosomal-recruitment complex is now live in Science Advances . Equal-first co-authors Chris Lupton & Laura. Work lead by @Dr_Ellisdon. Funding from Department of Defense 🇺🇸 & Australian Research Council. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Great to see our work on the #cryoem structure of the human TSC:WIPI3 lysosomal recruitment complex in Science Advances! Awesome effort from co-authors Charles Bayly-Jones and Laura with @Dr_Ellisdon doing the heavy lifting leading the project. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Thrilled to see our work on high-resolution #cryoem using a common LaB6 120-keV TEM and sub–200-keV direct electron detector, now online Science Advances. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… . A collaboration with Gatan Microscopy, @GeorgRamm, and Ramaciotti Centre for Cryo EM.

🧵 1/ We’re excited to share that our new paper with Adrian Bracken lab is out 🎉 In this study (which began 10 years ago!) we explore the biology of PRC2 and PRC1 in non-dividing cells. We also explore the effects of PRC2 inhibitor drugs on these cells. Here’s what we found👇

We are hiring! The Formosa Group is hiring a Research Officer to join our program on #Mitochondria, #Metabolism & #MitochondrialDisease Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute! 💡If you're passionate about mitochondrial research or know someone who is, please share! Amidst the chaos, here's a belated but exciting highlight on the recent LYCHOS structure by Charles Bayly-Jones Chris Lupton @Dr_Ellisdon Dr Michelle L Halls Roberto Zoncu and I broke down their findings, explored future directions, and tackled the key remaining questions. authors.elsevier.com/c/1kZRC3SNvcEP…

Excited to share the N&V Roberto Zoncu and I wrote for NatureStructMolBiol on the recent surge of LYCHOS structure papers! 🚀 We propose a unifying model that ties together these new discoveries. It’s incredible to see so much momentum building on our work. nature.com/articles/s4159…
