This is not new, and it is mainly driven by co-authorship growth, as we showed here journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…. Calling them "hyperproductive" is misleading. Since they don't "produce" each paper. They just co-author many. Ioannidis is an example of being such a "collab-hub", too!
