For structural variation and #yeast fans - Lydia Heasley 's detailed characterization of the richly complex genome of the YJM311 clinical isolate of S. cerevisiae is now posted in BioRxiv. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Save the date! #Yeast22 is happening in person! What to expect? Cutting-edge Plenary and Poster Sessions, workshops, and award presentations, of course! We all have so much to catch up on - SGD staff will see you in LA next summer! 😎 genetics-gsa.org/yeast/ Genetics Society of America #yeast

Out today on the cover of Genetics Society of America! Lydia Heasley 's beautiful haplotype-resolved telomere-to-telomere assembly and analysis of the diploid YJM311 S. cerevisiae wild strain

Lydia Heasley is definitely having a good week! A day after her awesome cover paper, right on cue, faculty job offers are starting to roll in… So proud of her and excited to see what’s ahead!

Just finished reading this nice paper. Coolest two feats IMO: 1) a circularized allele of Chr1, 2) a chromosomal region first identified from my dear Zygosaccharomyces bailii by Marsit Souhir (I think) Kudos to the authors Lydia Heasley and Lucas Argueso academic.oup.com/genetics/artic…

From the #GENETICS cover: Heasley & Argueso use long-read sequence analysis to construct a haplotype-phased, telomere-to-telomere length assembly of a diploid #yeast genome and characterize the structural variations therein. Lydia Heasley Lucas Argueso | bit.ly/3wb5zSO

Happy to share that this summer I'll be starting my own lab in the Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at CU Anschutz Medical Campus in my home state of CO! So thrilled to be joining such an inspired faculty and thriving scientific community!

Interested in PhD programs in molecular biology? Take a look at Molecular Biology Ph.D. Program // CU Anschutz! Application season is approaching. See the attached flyer for more details!
