What a great start to our DETeachersInstitute seminar on Thinking Geographically! Fellows learned about the basics of GIS and then got to play around in ArcGIS Online ! I foresee many many maps in our futures!

Just had a horrible day tech-wise. CPU was acting buggy before my 1st class and by the end of the day it completely crapped out. I’m an adult and not handling it well. Let’s continue to give Ss a break when it comes to their struggles w/ remote learning.

What a great first week of seminars and talks during #YNI2020 ! Time to get down to some serious unit writing! I’m emphasizing modeling, like the one below for stormwater runoff.

If your children don't attend crowded public schools Or you're not related to a teacher or principal in a crowded public school Or you're not a scientist I don't care what you think about the question of when to re-open schools Thank you. That's the tweet

As requested, a rant on hero-teacher mythology. Just as we see the Madonna/whore duality that women experience, teachers are either lazy, the ones who drink &/or have mugs that say 3 reasons I teach: June, July, August, or the hero-teacher 1/n

Millionaire athletes opt out of their season to protect themselves and their families... Americans: I completely understand and agree. Teachers pleading to teach online to protect themselves, their students and their families... Americans: Stop being so selfish!

Is it me or does this seem like a real good time to admit that standards are made up and we can make up new ones in response to the kids and the situation we have in front of us? 😬

(((Charles Fishman))) 💧 University of Arizona Cool! Jordan Peccia told us about doing this with sludge in New Haven, CT this spring/summer. So gross, but SO fascinating & SOOO helpful! (We had so many cool moments like that during our #YNI2020 Yale National Initiative fellowship!) Michael Doody

If college football gets canceled, are we going to make a ruckus that the coaches ought not get paid because they’re sitting at home, or is that just a false narrative we use to blame teachers?

Went out for a bike ride after teaching today. Felt like I was really struggling, but turns out I road at my fastest pace and crushed some segment records. I guess I was carrying some pent up energy from being cooped up in my makeshift office all week?
