Read a lot on this one (including the Fujita paper). That such an experienced crew, combined, all 3 crew had well over 36.000 flight hours - flying a (then) state-of-the-art jet, was led so fast into a situation from which they couldn´t escape.

Boeing 717 stall test sometime in the 90s... This one is scary to watch. Note the calm composure of the crew - obviously, this maneuver is studied and practiced: they aren´t going kamikaze. Still risky, of course.
