It was a great pleasure for MDDC to implement the Bosnia and Herzegovina K-9 Units' Competition held at Hotel Hills Sarajevo on December 19th 20204 in partnership with OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing together 14 extraordinary law enforcement K9 teams across BH.

U.S. CHAMPS students virtually toured the prosthetics center, learning about prostheses and challenges faced by mine victims. With the generous support of the CHAMPS project from Political-Military Affairs, US Dept of State US Embassy Sarajevo 🇺🇸 in partnership with Marshall Legacy Institute, we're fostering global solidarity.

While working on Land release Project Slatina in Jablanica Municipality, our demining teams made a significant discovery—a PROM-1 mine capable of scattering fragments over 100 m and a lethal range of 50 m. Newly trained mine detectin dog Perry II, has joined Federal Administration of Civil Protection. MDD Perry II was donated by Marshall Legacy Institute and trained by Mine Detection Dog Center. We wish MDD Perry and his handler Miralem good luck in their challenging but humane mission !

Today in Municipality Velika Kladuša in BIH a ceremony was held to mark the completion of Land Release Project financially supported by Political-Military Affairs, US Dept of State Department of State US Embassy Sarajevo 🇺🇸 through ITF Enhancing Human Security and implemented by MDDC. The project cleared 1.3 million sqm of mine suspected area.

During our recent visit to Velika Kladusa municipality in the north-western part of BIH, to celebrate the completion of US-funded land release project, we really enjoyed in breathtaking sites along the way.

Thanks to the support of Department of State US Embassy Sarajevo through ITF Enhancing Human Security, MDDC begun with demining activities on the final Land Release project in Vitez municipality, more than 2.4 million square meters in size. Completion of the project is anticipated in the upcoming year.

In a country where landmines are still reality, he is the one who walks where others do not. It is not because he has to, but because he feels it is his duty. The dedication and impact of those brave people is often unnoticed, but deserves to be acknowledged by all of us.

On August 30 in Doboj area, a 19-year-old man lost his life after stepping on an anti-personnel mine while tending goats.This tragedy is another reminder that landmines remain a deadly threat in BiH. Every life lost is a call to accelerate efforts to make BiH  mine-free country.
