Great to connect with partners, Public Health Oakland and Easterseals MORC this week on how they're working to meet the community’s behavioral health needs and addressing substance use disorder at the local level.

As the demand for behavioral health care continues to rise, Michigan HHS Dept will continue our work to improve access to services. Thanks to Genesee Health System for a great discussion about Genesee Co. needs and how Governor Gretchen Whitmer's FY26 budget would boost access to care across MI.

Thanks to Chair State Senator Sylvia Santana and the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on DHHS for the opportunity to present on Governor Gretchen Whitmer's FY 2026 budget recommendations this week. Learn more: bit.ly/4b81ukU.

Kinship caregivers are essential, and this week I was in Detroit to discuss how Michigan HHS Dept's proposed FY26 budget would invest nearly $90 million to keep kids safe, including expanding kinship support across MI.

Thankful for critical conversations about women’s health care at this week’s MI Women’s Commission event with Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Women of all ages deserve to feel empowered & heard in their health decisions.

Grateful to join tribal governments & advocates for the 2025 Tribal/MDHHS Summit and Consultation Meetings today to discuss how Michigan HHS Dept can keep working alongside tribes in MI in meaningful ways.

Honored to give the commencement address to MSU College of Human Medicine class of 2025. As they begin this new phase of their journey this summer, I reflected on overcoming challenges, the importance of listening as leaders, and showing up as your whole self. Go green!

Great weekend with Michigan HHS Dept BSC 5 Regional Director Jen Wrayno, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II and other private agency partners at the Detroit Motor City Pride Parade to promote the recruitment of foster parents.

Honored to keynote the Food as Medicine Summit last week. I highlighted how Michigan HHS Dept is innovating to improve health outcomes via food access & security, leveraging Medicaid policy tools, community partnerships & aligning with efforts to address health-related social needs.
