A pleasure to welcome Dr John Harden Deputy National Clinical Director to SORT East to see how Scottish Ambulance responds to unique challenges & our Ambulance Control Centres & Integrated Clinical Hub offering alternative pathways leading better care closer to the patient.
Last week met with The Association of Ambulance Chief Executives about the similar challenges we face across the UK & hear from Bron Briddle about reducing misogyny learning from Welsh Ambulance & thanks to Callum Beattie for coming to ACC East not only learn CPR skills but also perform some songs, sorry about☔️
An interesting visit to The State Hospital to see how they provide care and how we can work together. Providing a safe therapeutic environment is essential and they do excellent work. On a personal note but what do I find in a Danish zoo but a #shetland pony
Today is #InternationalNursesDay a profession I'm proud to be part of and proud that Scottish Ambulance has a sizeable number of nurses within its ranks. Nurses make a difference every day across the world, thank you for all you do.

Thanks Public Health Scotland for hosting Sir Michael Marmot discussing how we reduce inequalities in Scotland. In 2013 Coventry became a Marmot City and has seen tangible improvements by adopting the Marmot eight principles. Scotland has made real progress but still much more to do
Thanks to Shawlands Academy for allowing me to join the Young Minds Save Lives final session where young people test what they have learnt from Scottish Ambulance colleagues, amazingly they helped design the course. Also pleased the sun shone for the Pride Edinburgh march
Today is #InternationalOverdoseAwarenessDay. At SAS, we are committed to drug harm reduction. Our SAS Drug Harm Reduction Leads team support the service through initiatives & patient pathways. The Near-Fatal Overdose pathway is a whole system approach to provide all levels of support.
Last week I joined a corporate parenting awards by Who Cares? Scotland where Scottish Ambulance SFRS City of Glasgow & Police Scotland were up for an award. Corperate parenting is our responsibility to people who have experienced the care system. The Who Cares website is an excellent resource
A fantastic weekend with BASICS Scotland learning about the critical work they do joining brilliant sessions including one by the Glasgow Equine Hospital & Practice 12K per year involve animals using the dummies reinforced the importance of working with vets in emergencies when animals are present.
