Angel, Seed and Series A startups are mostly like the 3 stages of matter, Gas Liquid Solid … hear me out! (1/4)

Angel-stage startups are like Gas (no pun intended) – in that they have no definite shape or volume. The intermolecular distance seems too far spread out and it takes courage and imagination to believe this status quo will change.

Seed startups are the Liquid stage – there is definite volume to them, but like liquids Seed startups change shape / adapt. The molecules (the team) are closely packed and with enough space to move freely. However, put them under some persistent heat and they can evaporate.

Series A startups are Solid - they have a definite shape, not easily permeable, and show resilience against force. In Solids, just like the molecules only oscillate between their mean positions – Series A teams clearly know their deliverables and what they are building towards.
