In 1929, Li Fu Lee was the 1st woman of Asian descent to graduate from MIT. Soon after enrolling at MIT, Lee was elected as the social committee chairman of the Chinese Students’ Club, where she was the first and, at the time, the only woman in the club! #WHM2024

In 1905, Marie Celeste Turner was the first Black Woman to attend MIT, where she studied Architecture! She became a Boston public school teacher and, ultimately, a notable peddler dollmaker, collector, and author of a popular four-volume series along with her sister #MITWHM #OGE

ChoKyun Rha was the first Asian woman awarded tenure at MIT. As a food technologist, she published over 200 articles and held over 20 patents. Rha earned four degrees at MIT and began her career at the Institute in 1974 as an Associate Professor, earning tenure in 1980 #MITWHM
