Playbook thinks it’s “awkward” for the Commission president and other top EU officials to meet with the foreign minister of India, the most populous country in the world, after it suffered a terror attack.

Is Politico using AI to edit stories? Hours after we whooped them with this tobacco tax document, they run a piece with a photo of the exact same kiosk. And then they lifted our headline on the Schuman roundabout hours after we published. Suspicious!

As much as it would like to, Europe cannot stand on the sidelines of the war between Israel and Iran. It must choose a side – #Israel’s. euractiv.com/section/politi…

It was a great honour to appear before the Nueva Economia Fórum, Spain‘s premier gathering of business and political elites for a spirited discussion about Spain‘s place in Europe, the EU media landscape, and what we have planned ther. Le agradezco mucho la invitación!

Sorry for the linkedinesque post here but I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Euractiv! Excited to dig deeper into EU affairs and tell the stories that matter—alongside a strong team of talented colleagues (and old friends!).

Where does lawful representation end—and illicit influence begin? An ex-Huawei lobbyist’s revelations are now driving an EU corruption probe, shedding light on alleged gifts to MEPs including champagne, football tickets, phones… and cash. 👇 euractiv.com/section/politi…

EU CORRUPTION : Euractiv is probably upsetting a few folks today in the Brussels bubble, but that's what intrepid journalists are supposed to do. Fantastic reporting from Nicoletta Ionta and Elisa Braün. They're pulling on some strings; let's see where they lead.

“Nothing better illustrates the darkness that has entered the soul of today’s progressives than the crowd’s response yesterday to punk duo Bob Vylan, whose screams of ‘Free, Free Palestine’ and ‘Death, death to the IDF’ were chanted back with such fervour that the scene was like

“What we’re dealing with is not a grassroots plea for peace, for statehood. It’s Islamism soaked in Maoism, weaponized for the social media era, and sharpened to a point by ideological warriors who’ve read more Foucault than Quran.” open.substack.com/pub/bariweiss/…

matthew karnitschnig Euractiv makes an excellent point in The Brief this evening - access journalism is killing Brussels. It's quite obvious that many journalists access depends on them sucking up to Commission officials. This is bad, but when their ability to pay rent is determined

matthew karnitschnig (@mkarnitschnig) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Even if the EU’s press subsidies are not the only cause of Brussels’ journalistic dysfunction, they have contributed to making journalists dependent on the politicians who control their economic fate while skewing the market for everyone else.
