Today, we mark 33 years since the people of #Czechia & #Slovakia peacefully ended the authoritarian communist regime in the #VelvetRevolution. Freedom & democracy are values that aren’t given—they must be cherished and defended.

New paper dance! In this paper we Alexis Shaw Quantum Technology at Scale group @ UTS, Daniel and Alexandru investigate how thin we can make a quantum memory without significantly jeopardizing the threshold. Answer: 19 qubits (with many caveats). scirate.com/arxiv/2212.015…

Our quantum algorithm for a network of oscillators is out. The network can be simulated on a quantum computer with an exponential speedup. We also show an oscillator network of exponential size can simulate a quantum computation. arxiv.org/abs/2303.13012

In our new paper on arXiv today, Craig Gidney and I explain the techniques we used to make PyMatching 100x-1000x faster: arxiv.org/abs/2303.15933 Our sparse blossom algorithm is a variant of the blossom algorithm that directly solves the decoding problem relevant to QEC. 1/

I honestly thought the talks last week at IPAMs workshop on Mathematical Aspects of Quantum Learning were perhaps the highest quality of any conference I’ve been to. Or maybe I just like this stuff (and the LA sun just put me in a good mood). Either way, you can check them out 👇

At Google Quantum AI, we put an emphasis on bridging the gap between art & science. We walked PBS News through the artwork in our #QuantumComputing lab created in partnership with artist @foreststearns. Watch ↓ goo.gle/3vzBr5B

The Hamiltonian Jungle has expanded! In our latest update we unravel the secrets of Cluster Expansions, C*-Algebras, and MCMC. We also explore the complexities of Stoquastic Hamiltonians and Partition Functions. Explore the jungle at hamiltonianjungle.xyz!

It's an active day on the arXiv for the QSI team! Two papers emerging from the DARPA Quantum Benchmarking program (scirate.com/arxiv/2406.187… and scirate.com/arxiv/2406.187…) and another (scirate.com/arxiv/2406.190…) by Dr Zixin Huang a fellow at Macquarie and long-term visitor to our Centre.
