Centralized referral system for specialist and diagnostic care would shorten wait times, free up family physicians to see more patients, and save lives. It’s a low cost, win win win idea whose time is overdue.

Video review is the future (and should be the norm) in acute care medicine & trauma! Great work @RPDumasMD & colleagues! The notion that we perform high stakes clinical care without routinely reviewing these is counter to everything we know about performance improvement. 1/

Very disappointing to hear Danielle Martin avoid the elephant in the room. Family physicians are straight up underpaid. Its not easy to discuss when we're talking about 6 figure incomes but when there's a choice as a med student between higher & lower paying jobs.. 1/

Remembering a life that touched so many hearts and left an indelible mark on this day, the anniversary of Dr. Candace Nayman's passing. Our memory is of a warm, energetic & ambitious young doctor (who loved hotdogs!) and was a steadfast advocate of blood donation. 💙 #RIPCandace

Just to illustrate the problem, here is something I see in the ED a lot. This is a MADE UP PATIENT reflecting trends, not an individual. Man in his 70s coming in feeling weak for “a while.” Fell today. No family doctor for 8 years. Has been on the same medications ever since.

An interesting report of severe bronchospasm presenting as an absent waveform capnography trace after multiple re-intubations. However, there is no clear description of timings and whether exhaled CO2 ultimately was detected? Tim Cook Nicholas Chrimes journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11…

Sault Ste. Marie is experiencing a devastating crisis. Without action, nearly 30% of the population could be without a family doc in the next year. It’s not an isolated situation. This is an example of what's happening across Ontario. Read more: bit.ly/3tXE2pz #SaultNews

Pediatric Anesthesia Pro Tip #92: Don't get stuck in your ways. While developing your artform is key to expert practice, try new things once in a while. Today I tried cisatricurium for the first time 😃. This concept allows our trainees to teach us and expands our repertoire.

“In Ontario, more than 2.2 million people are currently without a family doctor. Another 1.7 million are looked after by a doctor who is 65 or older. The Ontario College of Family Physicians predicts more than four million Ontarians will be without a family doctor by 2026…”

A sad state of affairs. My dad, still working in his 70s as a GP and doesn't want to abandon his patients has spent >18 months trying to recruit young grads to take over his practice. No one is interested. This is in part the reason. The numbers simply just dont make sense.
