Just finished reading "A curious boy the making of a scientist" by Richard Fortey. Sadly Richard Fortey passed away just two days ago. He will be a great loss to the palaeontological community and is a much missed communicator of Science and Natural History. In this book, Fortey

In old Irish the cowslip is “bainne bó bleachtáin” which translates as “milk (or juice) of the milking cow”. Cowslips were believed to have magical, protective powers, and if rubbed on a cow’s udder on May Day protected the milk from harm by mischievous fairies. #FairytaleTuesday

A beautiful photo and memory shared to our group today by Christine McEnaney who commented "My Nana Mary O’Donnell (née Flaherty) in her front garden on Inis Oírr with the Naomh Éanna in the background - glorious days". God bless her soul and God be with them days.

Aghnaglack Court Tomb • Fermanagh This remarkable megalithic tomb is hidden away in Ballintempo Wood, not far from Enniskillen in County Fermanagh. It is a rare example of a dual court tomb, and it is likely to date to the earlier part of the Neolithic Period (c.4000–3500 BC).
