Heather Mendick Shocking. I love this area but what an own goal. Council homes pay for themselves, paying back into the community, and they build continuity and cohesion. The developers should be compelled, or compulsory purchase should come into effect.

Of the 254 flats only 45, that’s 18%, will be for "low cost rent" & only 19 of those are family size All the rest are for private or shared ownership ie unaffordable for average households Private developers don’t build what Londoners really need - they just follow the money

This is what members of the public said to Hackney Council at their workshop on financial viability. Social housing is a great long term investment. Yet our Council ignored us and brought forward designs with under 30% social rent housing and the vast majority unaffordable.

Your daily reminder that "affordable housing" includes properties like this ÂŁ925,000 shared ownership flat. Don't let the government whitewash gentrification. We need council housing.

Two months after the workshop where Hackney Council presented three options for redeveloping the Tesco site, they have not yet shared them online. They "are currently preparing the content for sharing which should be signed off later this week and posted before the end of June".

We're going to be publishing a new report soon. It will look at the problems with the council's consultation process on 55 Morning Lane.

Why is Hackney Council's website talking about a workshop from two and a half months ago as if it hasn't yet happened? Disappointing to see Hackney Council using a poster about 55 Morning Lane that's a year old at their Hackney Central Showcase. Some information on it is wrong or misleading. This is a key site, and the Council has 3 options for developing it, why not share them & get feedback?
