💡A new digital system is supporting clinical trials & helping MTW Research and Innovation teams work more efficiently, making us one of the first trusts to go paperless in this area. ⏳The new system helps us set studies up more quickly, getting research treatments to patients faster.

Last week, the team in our Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre carried out 12 hip replacements in a day. 🔁 Parallel lists mean no delays between patients. More operations can be done, efficiently and safely, so we can make a difference to more patients, more quickly. Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT)

Patients in our @MTW_MICU and ICU at Tunbridge Wells Hospital ICUs play a vital role in research, helping us evaluate new treatments and equipment safely, and find out if they might benefit future patients. 📈 961 of our ICU patients have taken part in research over the past year! #ICUWeek2025

👋 The HELLO study looked at compassion fatigue & burnout and involved 90+ staff 🏆 We were in the top 10 for recruitment in the UK-ROX Trial. 👩⚕️ In the past year we've had more resident doctors taking part in individual research trials than ever before! #ICUWeek2025

Our ICU at Tunbridge Wells Hospital presented at the KSS Adult Critical Care ODN rehab study day, sharing their experience of achieving Fundación Humanizando la Sanidad certification - the first ICU in the UK to do so! Congratulations to A&E advanced clinical practitioner Corinne, who won 1st place for her presentation at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine ACP conference! Her study aimed to identify if one method of managing wrist fractures is preferable to another, to reduce the need for surgical intervention.
