A facile synthesis of (BE)8-[16]annulenes (E = N, O) is reported in J. Am. Chem. Soc.. The macrocycles act both as Lewis acids (at B) and bases (at E), making them excellent metal-ion ligands with tuneable properties. CSD Entry: YOHGOV🔗ccdc-info.com/4b7sdwK #FeaturedStructureFriday
