Hi guys. Super super busy, we are currently 9mm of rain in 42 days, 4mm of that coming last night.😳 totally unheard of for Maesteg. Only able to get 8.5mm of irrigation a week, some ☔️ coming in tomorrow so sprayer set and wetters at the ready. #unsungheroes Maesteg greens

So I’ve seen a good few posts tottering around the place. Moans and groans that areas of the course are crap bare patches etc. well the drought will certainly not help matters but I can assure you with a certainty this is the real issue. Maesteg greens

Changing course lay out can be a challenge but once you get it right then you just sit back and admire it. Until you’re watching someone top it off the tee that’s when you walk away and admire the view from somewhere else 🤣 Maesteg greens

Well what can I say. Haven’t had a dry cut since June. Even when we had the nice weather the dew didn’t go until home time 😂. Also loving this single strip rotary mow around the tees makes it stand out. Have a good weekend guys I know I will 😴🤙

It’s hard to believe that 2 days ago there was literally no definition at all on the whole course. It shows all you need is a couple of dry strong windy days. This job is so frustrating sometimes 🙄 oh and it’s hammering down now 🤣 the gift that keeps on giving. #welshweather

The leadership and management apprenticeship wasn’t easy but the feeling you get when you achieve those goals are overwhelming, would recommend it to anyone. You also get the skills of filming right in the middle of a storm 😂😎

What a contrast in two days. Course is still absolutely sopping and quite probably unplayable but you have to make an effort for the members as they ain’t had much play time at all and to top it off another absolute deluge coming in 🤦‍♂️🙈. #greenkeeping #cheers

Well 621mm of rainfall since beginning of January. Course is absolutely soaking still but managed to get on some of the drier tees today. Prepping ready for the season ahead. Greenkeeping is ridiculously hard trust me. 😪 Maesteg greens

So managed to make a start on defining the approaches for the coming season. Beautiful cutting day today but that’s it I’m afraid folks another 10 day rain forecast so may god have mercy on us all. 🙄 #cantcatchabreak Maesteg greens

Been an extremely busy boy. Maesteg greens and myself have been hand cutting all week. Greens, approaches/aprons. 100,000+ steps later it’s starting to look a little like a golf course again ✅

Over the last 8 days I’ve hand cut greens, tees and now currently through 7 approaches (which are ridiculously long btw) I really hope the members appreciate it. 👍

One thing we have added to the party this year is hand mowing of the tees. It takes me roughly the same time maybe a little longer than it does on machine but the outcome is just 10 times better. Please excuse the wonky flag though 🙃🤪

So this ladies and gentlemen is Limburg golf club in Belgium showcasing its course outlined by the beautiful contrast of its heather and this is exactly how (if I ever designed my own course) It would look. Absolutely stunning 😍

Another trip to Wales today, this time playing Maesteg Golf Club for the first time. Blown away by how good the layout was! First-rate presentation, greens were superb! I would highly recommend a game if you're in the area. Thanks to James Matthewman M.G.C 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 for helping to organise today!

Hi guys and gals. Had a long break off here. Been very busy in work. Numerous tournaments and just held the Welsh team handicap championship. Been battling some personal demons away from work but happy to be making progress. Nice to see the sunshine and everyone’s pics 😎😊👍
