Steppe bison. Based on my earlier drawings of European bison. I was visiting relatives for the past few days and had practically no time for coherent thoughts. This is what I was able to do on autopilot.

Before fish had jaws, they were already a diverse bunch. And quite amusing. Drawn after 3D models by @VilleSinkkonen and inspired by his enthusiasm.

Another fish, because why not. Ptomacanthus was a Devonian freshwater fish very distantly related to today’s sharks, rays and chimaeras. These animals possibly had a decent color vision, later lost in the shark lineage, and thus could have been colorful.

A speculative reconstruction of Thyreosaurus, a mysterious newly named stegosaur relative found in Morocco. Known from a partial skeleton, there’s quite a bit of artistic liberty in the appearance of this one.

A warm up sketch of an elderly wolf I photographed some years ago in Ähtäri Zoo, central Finland. Putting tales of big bad wolves aside, most wolves have a quite gentle-looking face. Looking at them, it doesn’t seem to odd our distant ancestors ended up befriending them.
