Pruning is the vinegrower's oldest act. It has been regulated in Champagne since 1938 in what is probably the most rigorous and detailed regulation on pruning of all AOC's. Only 4 manual pruning systems are allowed in Champagne: Chablis, Cordon, Guyot, and Vallée de la Marne.
