Today in academia, from the pages of a flagship journal: If your qualitative sample doesn't hold your abolitionist beliefs, it is up to you, the academic expert, to determine the best solution for them.

Drawing conclusions about police abolition by literally saying your study does not provide the data to support it, but the participants may have lacked vision and the authors' expertise justifies the conclusion, is a reason why many people don't take criminology seriously, sadly.

Great presentation this morning at LeadershipSC by Major TJ Geary. We learned of ways to respond in a crisis and certainly have a lot to think about. This was my favorite quote of the morning.

From the pages of academia: So inconvenient when the survey finds the most critically reflective social work students reject defunding or abolishing the police. Best to conclude that what they lack is enough education on the topic.

Rob Henderson has a few insights on the sociology of work (for want of a better term). There's a difference between being an expert and being part of the elite. Much has to do with your comportment. We see some of this at play in criminology, with policing.
