The Vice Chancellor Makerere University represented by the First Deputy Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi commissions the refurbished Main Gate at MUARIK. The refurbishment was done by students from the Department of Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering Makerere University CAES.


Established in 1953, Makerere Univ. Agricultural Research Institute Kabanyolo (MUARIK) hosts a number of projects & research facilities for Makerere University CAES including the Mak Regional Centre for Crop Improvement (MaRCCI) & the Mak Centre for Soybean Improvement & Development (MakCSID)



The Vice Chancellor Makerere University represented by the First Deputy Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi commissions the refurbished Main Entrance Gate at MUARIK. The refurbishment was done by students from Makerere University CAES & Makerere University CEDAT.



This year, we aim to reposition MUARIK as a major hub of agricultural production-Makerere University CAES Principal at the commissioning of the refurbished main gate at MUARIK. The new entrance now embodies the true spirit of Makerere University.



During the commissioning of the refurbished Main Gate at MUARIK on Friday, 30th May 2025, Makerere University CAES recognized and honored a number of teaching, administrative, and support staff for their exceptional performance.

During the commissioning of the refurbished Main Gate at MUARIK, the Guest of Honour, Makerere University Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi - praised the initiative, saying it is a powerful motivator.


Based on my assessment, Makerere University CAES has demonstrated outstanding performance across the core pillars of training, research, production, & outreach. It has played a pivotal role in advancing the agricultural sector through innovative research, & high-quality academic programmes.
