Dragonflies class enjoyed testing the properties of materials this week as part of their science lesson.

Year 1 have written some brilliant nonsense poems for the Somerset Literacy Network’s poetry competition this week. Lots of laughs in class and they especially loved reading their poems to their friends.

Year 5 have been writing nonsense poems today - do they make sense to you?!

Otters were delighted to create a chocolate salame, a Portuguese cake, during their lesson today. They can't wait to try it tomorrow 😋

We welcomed the Chard Mayor into school to choose her favourite Easter bonnet and decorated egg this morning. Certificates and prizes will be given out in next week's celebration assemblies 🐣 #community

This afternoon, Dragonflies class had great fun at Chard Museum, where they learned about what life was like for children in the past.

Year 1 loved showing their moving picture topic work to their parents in today’s DT showcase.

Some of our Eco-Warriors joined Terry Coombe from the Blackdown Hills Hedge Association this morning, who came into school to help plant rowan, hazel and crab apple trees on the school field, as part of the @woodlandtrust tree school scheme.

Multicultural day been a huge hit in Year 1 this morning. So far we have flown to Greece to learn a Greek dance and taste Greek salad and then flown to Madagascar to learn and their animals and try some Madagascan fruit.

We’re going on a bug hunt, we’re going to catch a small one!!!! Dragonflies loved their bug hunt today. We even found some frogs!🐸🐞🕷️🐜🐛

Year 1 have been learning poems this week. Today we performed the poems to our friends and some children even performed to Mr Talmage. A great chance to practice our oracy skills.

As part of our DT topic, Yr 1 had great fun at making and sampling tuna salad that they loved. They also have learnt how to handle kitchen equipment safely.

Year 1 finished our day out with some fun on the beach.

Year 1 loved their SCARF workshop where they learnt about healthy eating and being kind.

Dragonflies have worked very hard today. After a long day at writing in their books they had a lovely treat in the shade.

Dragonflies completed their last Manor Court 48 of Yr 1 by toasting marshmallows today. Lots of the children had never done this before and they all had a great time.

Bumblebees loved their last Yr 1 Manor Court 48 today.
