FINALLY have some new art to share!!! I've been working on this here and there in between commissions, and finally decided it needed to be finished. Here's the Middle Permian pareiasaur, Bradysaurus baini. #paleoart #sciart #scientificillustration #paleontology

May 16, 1891, "The Graphic" newspaper publishes a figure showing British paleontologist Harry Govier Seeley exhibits of a Pareiasaur to the Royal Society - including the living animal above (may not 100% accurate)

Bradysaurus is a pareiasaur, a group of armoured herbivores. As seen in this reconstruction from the display, the armour was an array of bony scutes/osteoderms spread across the back, more like an ankylosaur rather than a proper shelled tortoise/armadillo

Check out this #chonky boi at ESI. It's a pareiasaur, a large, end #Permian reptile that ate plants - an absolute Palaeozoic unit. The name means 'cheek lizard'. Making head frills cool long before ceratopsians got in on the action. #FossilFriday #Smooches

My first #FossilFriday of 2020 has me thinking of all the new discoveries to be made! Here’s Pia Viglietti and I with a big ol’ pareiasaur last summer in #Zambia 🇿🇲 Photo by Steve Tolan #MunyamadziGMA

My last #FossilFriday of 2016: chunky old Bradysaurus seeleyi. A stocky pareiasaur from Mid Permian, up to a tonne in weight. What a smile.
