Thank you for your inspiring papers and excellent organisation. How much can be done with textiles (and dress labels!) as historical sources!

I wrote a blog on early 20th century #missionaryexhibitions and #postcards as part of my research at Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, and would like to hear from other scholars interested in this still under-studied topic #twitterhistorians #museumhistorians #exhibitionhistorians #materialculture

A beautiful beautiful beautiful collection of seashells engraved for commerce by convicts in Nouméa, New Caledonia. Now at the Historical Site of lle Nou. Much more than 'souvenirs' with merely monetary value for the maker.

Finally saw at the Pavillon des Sessions, Louvre, this intriguing 'sculpture tahitienne' from the Society Islands. The only LMS object in Paris museum collections. Such a spectacular & very special basketry in coconut fibres & tapa, which is believed to contain a holy essence
