Such a fantastic group of collaborators (Andrea Allen, Mariah Boudreau, Antoine Allard, Laurent Hébert-Dufresne), thank you all! I'm super proud of this paper, our results are important to keep in mind when making predictions early in epidemics. A few quick summary points will follow.

Check out this new paper co-authored by QuEST trainee Mariah Boudreau! Summary below ⤵️ Phys. Rev. Research 4, 013123 (2022) - Predicting the diversity of early epidemic spread on networks journals.aps.org/prresearch/abs…

Bravo to Laurent Hébert-Dufresne whose promotion to associate professor w/tenure in UVM Computer Science was celebrated last night He arrived at UVM in 2018 and has since co-authored more than 50 papers 🔥🔥🔥 It is also his birthday today 🎉🎉🎉 laurenthebertdufresne.github.io

Congratulations to Vanessa Myhaver on defending her MS thesis in Complex Systems & Data Science! While finishing her degree, Vanessa has launched an experiment into space, built numerical simulations of black hole collisions & worked as a research scientist for NASA. 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

"A network compression approach for quantifying the importance of temporal contact chronology" New preprint from PhD student Andrea Allen w/Cris Moore & Laurent Hébert-Dufresne arxiv.org/abs/2205.11566

“Gauge against the machine: Improving representations within sociotechnical instruments to enrich context and identify biases” Congratulations to Josh Minot on defending his Vermont Complex Systems Institute @ UVM PhD thesis today!!! 🎓🎓🎓🎓🎓🎓🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Congrats to Andrea Allen on defending her MS thesis!!! "Modeling the Heterogeneous Temporal Dynamics of Epidemics on Networks" She will join the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia as as Data Scientist Children's Hospital

"Temporal and probabilistic forecasts of epidemic interventions" New preprint from UVM Math & Stat Dept PhD student Mariah Boudreau w/Andrea Allen Nicholas J Roberts Antoine Allard Laurent Hébert-Dufresne arxiv.org/abs/2302.03210

How could differing interventions be compared when given probability forecasts? Previous work with Andrea Allen Nicholas J Roberts Antoine Allard & @LHDNets is expanded on and defines four metrics that could prove useful for decision makers. arxiv.org/abs/2302.03210

We are looking forward to speaking with Mariah Boudreau next week! Join us live or watch a recording at youtube.com/@math4allshow/… #iteachmath Heidi Sabnani, EdD Molly Vokey

PhD students Jeremy Quail, Calum Buchanan, and Mariah Boudreau presented their work today at the University of Vermont Student Research Conference, well done all!

Excited to share this work with Andrea Allen, Nicholas J Roberts, Antoine Allard, & Laurent Hébert-Dufresne. In this paper we impose intervention strategies on time-dependent PGFs to show how the quality of interventions depends on what is being mitigated and at what time.
