Wet and windy short-beaked common dolphins in the Carrick Roads today onboard Cornwall IFCA’s Tiger Lily, completing the JNCC Marine Mammal Observer Course with Marine Vertebrate MSc (U of Exeter)! #cetaceans

Fin Whale spotted off Pendennis Point today! Was so exciting to see my first whale in the UK! Marine Vertebrate MSc (U of Exeter)

More Falmouth Bay cetacean action today with AK Wildlife Cruises for Marine Vertebrate MSc (U of Exeter)! Close-encounters with lots of sociable and foraging common dolphins!

I'm incredibly grateful to Ben Hancock-Smith for managing to capture the unbelievable moment one of today's 3 Pendennis Humpback Whales breached, drawing audible gasps from the hundreds gathered at the point, and for letting me post the pics here. What a moment!

We had a brilliant boat trip out this morning with plenty of seabirds, including a good number of puffins! Then this afternoon a great talk from Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust about the rat eradication program on St Agnes and St Helens, which we’ll be getting involved with later in the week! 🌊

A fantastic day at Natural History Museum yesterday, examining their collection of deep-sea sharks (Apristurus spp.) in preparation for some exciting Marine Vertebrate MSc (U of Exeter) projects. Thanks to Curator of Fishes Diego F B Vaz for all your support. @ExeterMarine University of Exeter CEC #deepsea #sharks #nhm

Great first 2 days out on the sea for Marine Vertebrate MSc (U of Exeter) @ExeterMarine 🌊 Lots of gannets, grey seals, common dolphins & porpoise (yesterday) & bottlenose dolphins today. Other groups spotted a minke & tuna, they managed to evade us. Hopefully spot them soon too 🤞🏻
