It’s been an honor to work with Senator Caroline Menjivar on SB 1170. Women candidates face unacceptable hostility - prejudice, harassment & violence. SB 1170 provides a resource to cope with the understandable mental health impacts. Please sign Governor Gavin Newsom to support women in office!

The candidate for San Diego City Attorney who hasn’t practiced law since 1999 is attacking Chief Deputy City Attorney Heather Ferbert for City Attorney saying her 15 yrs of experience in municipal law is “too narrow.” Maybe I’m crazy but I think it’s important for a city attorney to be qualified!

🚨ENDORSEMENT ALERT! As a housing & tenant lawyer defending residents from eviction, Ysabel Jurado understands the importance of standing up to corporations. In an election defining the future of Los Angeles, we need to prevent republicans like Nathan Hochman from taking office

When no one enforces state & local habitability codes, slumlords violate with impunity, harming tenants & fueling our homelessness crisis. This could be avoidable with a strong City Attorney willing to use civil enforcement to force slumlords to abate substandard conditions.

.Robert Greene won a Pulitzer Prize for his wise, informed, invaluable writing about how government at every level works, and doesn't. This is a serious blow to the paper, a serious loss for readers, and for me, a gut-punch loss of a great colleague and friend.

Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Robert Greene is smart, deeply knowledgeable about L.A. County, and a decent colleague. His departure is a huge loss.

The is no possible way to adequately express the enormity of the loss of columnist/reporter Robert Greene from the Los Angeles Times. He's brilliant, fearless, and the best of the best—both as a journalist, and as a friend.

Pay to play politics is a staple of Kevin de Leon’s tenure, continuing the corruption of his predecessors. It’s time to break the curse & elect Ysabel Jurado, a candidate from the community who has spend her career working for the community. The record speaks for itself.

It’s time to say NO to racist, sexist, homophobic, narcissistic, corrupt, power-hungry men, from the top of the ballot all the way down. Proud to vote for Ysabel Jurado, a tenants rights attorney who has dedicated herself to this community & will put the people first.

Celebrate all the small wins, the local wins, the state wins. Every race where decency wins is an opportunity for us to stay hopeful and build power.

My first lawsuit against the Trump Administration was filed 10 days after the 2021 inauguration. Today, take care. Come January, we will be ready to fight Trump's agenda: in the courts, in our states and cities, and in the public arena. Defending democracy falls to us.

Voters overwhelmingly supported Measure HLA to invest in safe streets across LA. The City Attorney shouldn’t slow-walk these needed safety measures. This is part of a larger pattern of this City Attorney inserting her agenda to hamper policies she disagrees with. Unacceptable.

Beware of Price Gouging: When a state of emergency was declared in LA on 1/7, it triggered legal protections. Generally, sellers can't raise prices more than 10% on essential goods: rent, hotels, gas, food, med/emergency supplies. Report price gouging to: oag.ca.gov/report

Today Senator Sasha Renée Pérez and I, along with a number of our colleagues, are introducing AB 246 which calls for a rent freeze across Los Angeles County. People are hurting. People have been displaced. We have to do all we can to help people find and keep their housing.

Deeply disturbed reading these reports of racism, sexism, and bigotry. The public deserves a full and transparent investigation of these officers. LAPD officers must be held to the highest standards of law.
