Our Research Centre in Cairo Research Centre in Cairo PCMA UW hosts a workshop “Monitoring Archaeological Sites in Sudan Using Satellite Imagery” Led by🔸Mariusz Drzewiecki🔸, it trains Sudanese heritage specialists & archaeologists in using satellite imagery, GIS, & AI for site monitoring.

we were delighted to join the workshop, "Monitoring Archaeological Sites in Sudan Using Satellite Imagery," hosted by the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology. It brought together 12 archaeologists from Sudan to enhance skills in satellite imagery, GIS for site monitoring.

Call for papers is open until the 29th of October. The conference will be held at the University of West Attica in Athens, Greece between the 5th and 9th of May 2025. I hope to see you there 🫵🤓

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Prof. Michał Kobusiewicz, a distinguished prehistorian and former member of PCMA UW’s Scientific Council. His contributions left a lasting legacy to research on the Stone Age of Egypt and Sudan.
