To everyone in Gateshead, Whickham (and wherever else you might be this Christmas), I wish you and everyone you love the very best. Merry Christmas and a Hapoy New Year

Good news that the Metro will be back up and running. Thank you to the key workers at Gateshead Council, Nexus and NECA who have worked flat out over Christmas to make this happen

I’ll continue to work urgently with the Mayor and the Council to make sure the flyover gets demolished and secure the funds to redevelop Gateshead Town Centre

After nine wonderful years at YouGov I have left to become the new CEO of Datapraxis. The need for a new progressive politics and the urgency of defeating the Far Right has never been greater.

Jenrick was in Cabinet during the child abuse enquiry. He failed to attend or even have staff at the Nottinghamshire strand of the enquiry. His constituency was part of the cover up. Following his own logic he must now hand himself in to Notts police.

"When the poison of the far-right leads to serious threats to Jess Phillips and others, then in my book a line has been crossed" PM Keir Starmer responds to Elon Musk's attack on the UK government's response to grooming gangs Follow live: bbc.in/3PpGQCK

2025 will be the year our NHS is turned around. Today Keir Starmer has put the Plan for Change into action. The NHS can and will do more to break down the barriers to patient care we all want to see. This government is acting now to deliver the change the British people demand

It’s right to be concerned about the future of our country. But democratic debate in this country is increasingly corrupted by false narratives amplified by foreign interference and manipulation on social media platforms (including this one).

Loved seeing Dunston Staiths on The One Show last night. It’s an important part of our history, well worth a visit and one of my favourite parts of the Tyne Derwent Way. Looking forward to getting over there (and to the brilliant Staiths Cafe) soon

Just when you thought the Tories could stoop no lower. They’re going to vote to block our plans to protect vulnerable children — all for a cheap headline. Sickening. They are unfit to govern.

It's time for action to protect vulnerable children. Today Labour brings forward the single biggest piece of child protection legislation in a generation. The Tories are trying to block action to keep children safe.

This Conservative education spokesperson worked for Boris Johnson, who said spending on historic child abuse inquiries was “spaffing money up the wall” as a “levelling up advisor”. Does he agree with Boris Johnson then, or Elon Musk now?

Free breakfast clubs in every Primary School will make a life changing difference to both kids and parents in Gateshead, Whickham and across the country - all part of Labour's Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill that will deliver meaningful change for our nation's children.

British politics used to work on the basis that one side would make an argument and the other side would agree or disagree with the argument on the basis of its merits. Now too often the game is to sow distrust. That game is bad for democracy but worse – it fails you.

Reform just managed to lose a vote in the Commons because they didn’t understand how to hold a division. This lot want to run the country but today they’ve shown they couldn’t run a bath

The Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill secures the biggest child protection reforms in a generation. I am proud to have voted for this Bill.

Tonight I voted for a bill that significantly improves child protection. Don't believe the misinformation and lies spread online. Lies spread by those who see the appalling abuse of children as a political game - rather than unite cross-party to root it out.
