"Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension Associated with Vascular Malformations" doi.org/10.3174/ajnr.A… Mark Mamlouk William Dillon, M.D. American Society of Spine Radiology (ASSR) #CSFLeak

Check out our latest #CSFLeak paper in Radiology (Radiology) - a two institution collaboration evaluating epidural patching techniques and outcomes for ventral dural tears: Mark Mamlouk Kaiser Permanente CU Anschutz Medical Campus CU Neuroradiology CU Neurosurgery pubs.rsna.org/eprint/T9DKN4Y…

3 Main Takeaways from Our Study: ✳️ Acute ventral leaks = unorganized fluid. Patch immediately. ✳️ Chronic leaks = organized fluid. Targeted & nontargeted patching are low yield. ✳️ Intra-SLEC patching may cure chronic leaks but should only be performed by experienced operator.

Spinal SLECs can be tricky, but patching within these collections shows promise! This method improved resolution rates vs. traditional approaches. However, ventral dural defects remain a challenge. Check out the study by Andrew L Callen MD Mark Mamlouk! pubs.rsna.org/doi/10.1148/ra…

Transnasal approach across the nasopharynx to the prevertebral soft tissues!! That must be the first patch like that, Andrew L Callen MD!

In this article, Andrew L Callen MD et al from CU Neuroradiology/CU Radiology and Kaiser Permanente study the effectiveness of epidural blood patches, especially in chronic cases of ventral dural tears, such as patients with SLECS. Mark Mamlouk bit.ly/4hP3lwS

New #CSFLeak paper: "Histopathological Analysis of Five Patients with CSF-Venous Fistulas After Surgical Nerve Root Ligation and Resection" Congrats to CU School of Medicine medical student Andrew Mecum for doing an outstanding job leading this project! ajnr.org/content/early/…

Volunteering in medicine isn't just about service, it's about staying involved in what matters. For Mark Mamlouk, returning to UCSF Imaging as a volunteer means mentorship, connection & real-time learning. Read his story here: radiology.ucsf.edu/blog/mark-maml… #NationalVolunteerWeek

We were honored to host Tim Shepherd from NYU Langone Health Department of Radiology for our Northern California TPMG Neuroradiology Visiting Lecture Series! Kaiser Permanente To the radiologist: “You will be surprised how often you are the first to suggest a workup or diagnosis (of a neurodegenerative disease)”

Excited to share our new research paper showing how decub CTM can identify the dural tear in extradural arachnoid cysts to aid in surgical repair. We also highlight several similarities with lateral CSF leaks & hint of a possible spectrum. Niklas Lützen ajnr.org/content/early/…

On the first day of the international SIH leak conference in Amsterdam, Lalani Carlton Jones highlights the role of targeted patching for the various types of CSF leaks.
